Starting with Wanos 2.6, Wanos will depend and boot on a 64-bit hardware by default. Users may get this error message when booting Wanos on a x86 only hardware:
This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot – please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.
If the user has a x86 hardware, they can boot wanos in 32-bit mode by following the instructions below. This option is only available in Wanos Microcore/Tinycore version 3 only.
Steps to configure Wanos to boot in 32-bit mode:
- Boot the Wanos USB appliance on a 64-bit capable hardware. Log into the Appliance with the correct Username and Password.
- Edit the extlinux.conf file by typing:
vi /tce/boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf
- Type a(ppend) to switch to edit mode, delete the entry 64 on line 2 leaving the entry:
DEFAULT core
- Press the ESC key to exit edit mode and type
wq!to save the changes. - Poweroff the machine and transfer the USB device to the target 32-bit machine.
