TCP acceleration and path selection

TCP acceleration (TCP-X)
A fully transparent performance-enhancing proxy with High Speed TCP. Speed improvements of 2–10x are expected where TCP throughput is suboptimal.
Path selection
Load balance over multiple WAN gateways with link metric thresholds and Layer 7 policies.
Quality of service
Classification, marking and shaping for business-priority and bandwidth-intensive traffic.
Packet loss recovery
Recovery and forward error correction deliver data reliably and improve link quality.
TCP acceleration in depth
Smoke ping chart of latency and loss between two Wanos peers
WAN optimization

Deduplication and compression

Deduplication
Removes duplicate byte patterns across flows, whatever protocol, application or session sent them.
Stream compression
Real-time compression for higher ratios, acceleration and bandwidth savings.
Persistent data store
A large disk-based store keeps deduplication data long term, and restores service after outages.
Packet order correction
Fixes out-of-order packets on the fly to avoid retransmissions.

Monitoring and management

NetFlow analytics
Optimizer performance, protocol statistics and system health in the web interface.
System dashboard
Load, CPU, memory, disk and traffic saved at a glance, with historical graphs.
Traffic policies
Include or exclude specific traffic from optimization.

SD-WAN optimization features

All features

TCP acceleration (TCP-X)

The fully transparent TCP acceleration performance-enhancing proxy significantly enhances TCP performance with High Speed TCP. Speed improvements of 2–10x are expected where TCP throughput is suboptimal.

Learn more

Packet loss recovery

Packet loss recovery and forward error correction recover from loss early, so data is delivered reliably, link quality improves and TCP accelerates.

Learn more

Deduplication

Cross-flow deduplication removes duplicate byte patterns, whatever protocol, application or session sent them. Patterns are saved on disk for future matches.

Learn more

Quality of service

Deep packet inspection classification, marking and traffic shaping give business-priority and bandwidth-intensive traffic the right quality of service.

Learn more

Path selection

Load balance traffic over multiple WAN gateways with link metric thresholds and Layer 7 traffic policies.

Learn more

Stream compression

Real-time stream compression of network data for higher compression ratios, acceleration and bandwidth savings.

Learn more

Packet order correction

Correcting packet order on the fly avoids the performance impact and retransmissions caused by out-of-order packets.

Learn more

Bridge appliance

Wanos is a bridge appliance by default: quick and simple to deploy, non-intrusive, and it preserves the natural traffic flow.

In the docs

NetFlow analytics

The web interface shows optimizer performance, protocol statistics, system health and configuration options.

In the docs

Layer 7 firewall

Filter traffic on deep packet inspection application signatures at the branch edge.

Learn more

Tunnel mode

Tunnel mode complements bridge mode as a flexible way to route traffic through the optimizer.

In the docs

Network transparency

Source and destination addresses are preserved. Wanos does not translate addresses or proxy traffic.

How it works

How WAN optimization works

Physical or virtual Wanos appliances are placed on each end of the link. Traffic crosses the WAN optimized between them, and the solution is 100% transparent to end stations.

  • Stream compression and deduplication through byte-caching, in real time.
  • Less data over the WAN means bandwidth cost savings, faster applications and a better user experience.
  • Quality of service, packet loss recovery and forward error correction improve link performance.
  • TCP acceleration significantly improves performance over sub-optimal network conditions.
  • SD-WAN path selection moves bandwidth-intensive traffic to a secondary broadband link.
How it works and the quick demo
Wanos at each end of the WAN Replication traffic of 40 Mbps on each LAN crosses the WAN at 11 Mbps between two Wanos appliances. WAN / VPN / MPLS Branch Wanos Wanos Head office 40 Mbps 11 Mbps on the WAN 40 Mbps

AIVA: replication approaches 40 Mbps while the WAN remains at 11 Mbps, saving 1.2 TB in a week.

Reviews
Wanos has helped us to improve replication throughput more than twofold. Although we also trialed the leading WAN optimization products, we selected Wanos since it provided one of the best ROIs.
