Normally, on first boot, the first interface or eth0 is assigned to wan0 and the second interface or eth1 is assigned to lan0. This error may occur on Bare metals and various Virtualization tools such as KVM, ESXi, Hyper-V, etc.

On physical appliances and hypervisors that emulate the physical port state, the Wanos web GUI will display connected ports with a green indicator. Connect/Disconnect to determine which is wan0/lan0.

Also, check the logs for Peer detected on lan0 by logging into the Wanos web GUI > Diagnostics > Logging. This is a sign that the ports are switched. The Switch Interface Port Role feature can be used to re-align and correct interface roles.

To completely change the wan0 /lan0 NIC assignment, follow the instructions in Changing wan0 and lan0 pair NIC interface .
