Difference optimization grown
« on: March 25, 2015, 08:14:55 AM »
Hi Antonie have a question about the diffence between your optimization on your video :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sh-ta_twC18

When we send the first time the file we have the same speed but the second we grown up to 3.5MB/s
And you to 8.5MB/s Why so a big difference ?
(At the first transfer we just up to 0.8, 1MB/s max, and you 2MB/s)

Thanks for your answer :)

There could be a number of reasons, but the two most common ones are:

1) A low MTU setting on the test machines.
2) High packet loss rate on the Wan.

It looks like the test link is limited by Express at about 6 Mbps, which is equivalent to the test in the video. The silesia corpus is compressible, while the ISO compression is very limited. That should still give you +-60 Mbps on the hot transfer though.

I think start with checking the MTU to ensure you don't have something like 1300 set. Then test smaller files a couple times and see if you can obtain the 60 Mbps on the hot transfers. On the longer transfers check the CPU stats to see if its not perhaps a bottleneck.

I check my MTU and he is at 1472 (1500-28) so the highest that I can have,
And how I can check my "packet loss rate on the Wan ?"

*edit*
Check your email I send you something for buy wanos licences :)
