Features / Out-of-Path Options
« on: March 04, 2014, 09:17:45 AM »
Two out of path deployment options are available.

Router mode:
PBR Pros: Network transparency. High Availability - Immediate seamless fail-over. More efficient, less overhead. More robust.
PBR Cons: Router needs to be configured to PBR traffic to the Core.

Tunnel mode:
Tunnel Pros: Simpler, no need to configure any routing for the incoming traffic from the WAN.
Tunnel Cons: More overhead. Transparency is lost in the WAN.

Installation / Which Ethernet is lan0 and which is wan0?
« on: March 03, 2014, 05:56:35 PM »
Normally on first boot the first interface or eth0 is assigned to wan0 and eth1 to lan0.

On physical appliances and hypervisors that emulate the physical port state, the Wanos GUI will display connected ports with a green indicator. Connect/Disconnect to determine which is lan0/wan0. Failing this the same page indicates the MAC addresses, which can be used to determine to which ports the interfaces are connected to.

Also check the logs for "Peer detected on lan0". This is a sure sign that the ports are switched on the Edge. The "Switch Interface Port Role" feature can be used to aligned the ports to the correct roles.

To select completely difference interfaces for wan0 and lan0 peers, these steps can be used: http://wanos.co/forum/index.php?topic=157.0

Installation / Hyper-V is not detecting network cards
« on: March 03, 2014, 05:52:03 PM »
When deploying Wanos on Hyper-V, add 'Legacy Network Adapters' and enable 'Mac Spoofing'

Note: From 2.6.2 onwards, standard network adapters should be used. Legacy adapters should be avoided.

Note: Try to use Intel based physical NICs when possible.

Installation / 'fdisk -l' shows no drives
« on: March 03, 2014, 05:50:34 PM »
This happens on VMware when deploying from the vmdk file. The reason is the SCSI drive emulation used by default VMware settings. Either remove the SCSI connection and replace with SATA/IDE drives or deploy using the OVA package.

FAQ / Wanos OEM
« on: March 03, 2014, 05:21:43 PM »
Can Wanos be used as an OEM Wan Optimization software. Can I also re-brand Wanos, with the objective to sell the solution under a different name?

Wanos as an OEM Wan Optimization solution is possible. Please send an email to info@wanos.co for more details.

IT companies can also sell and support Express and Plus. This enables Wanos partners to generate revenue through selling optimization hardware, installation of the solution, technical support and ongoing maintenance.
