Troubleshooting / Re: HTTP and FTP Traffic not Optimized !
« on: January 29, 2018, 10:14:34 PM »
That's hard to believe considering SMB is optimized, but I guess there is a first time for everything.

Can you upload small wireshark trace of the ftp or http test. Just do a very small test file like a few KB, I just want to see the TCP establishment.

I will send wireshark trace.
But
Given that traffic is bypassed in the trial version. Is it possible that this is related to license?

Hi Ali,

The one image has a PLR state of stateless, combined with the issues you are having, I am wondering if there is not maybe something else not 100% with your lab setup.

Are you still having the same conditions after setting the peer timeout higher?
Is it possible that there might be some asymmetrical routing in the setup?
Are you using bridge mode or tunnel mode?
How/What tool are you using to simulate the WAN conditions?

Note on the delay in reply, but considering that this is for educational research, support for this project gets appropriate priority

Hi Antonie,
Thank you so much for your support

- Yes, after setting the peer timeout to a higher value (900) , the problem was solved, the SMB  traffic is well optimized. but FTP and HTTP are not optimized and bypass.
- No. i have no asymmetrical  routing
- I use bridge mode
and
- I use VMware For the three virtual machines on each side
Side A :
Windows7   >>Connect to>>    WANOS    >>Connect to>>   Kerio Control   >>Connect to>>   DSL modem

Side B :
Windows Server 2012   >>Connect to>>    WANOS   >>Connect to>>   Kerio Control   >>Connect to>>  DSL modem

Two  Kerio Control  are connected via Site-to-Site VPN

I set up file sharing services(SMB), web services(HTTP,HTTPS), and FTP on Windows server 2012
All communications are properly established

When I check out, in general and seemingly all of the items are correct,
SMB traffic is optimized by WANOS , but FTP and HTTP are not optimized and bypass.

Please post your traffic policies. This would be expected with bypass rules targeting specific apps or IP addresses.

I did not make any changes to default traffic policies (On both sides are the same )

I created a simple web page with download links and I downloaded the file.

I attached the related pictures

Thanks ahenning

Troubleshooting / HTTP and FTP Traffic not Optimized !
« on: January 23, 2018, 11:13:46 AM »
Hi

I am testing wanos  4.2.1 64bit plus 20/200.

In my lab environment, file transfer with the SMB protocol is well optimized

But when I use protocols HTTP (and FTP) to transfer the same files, all traffic will be bypassed (Pass-through)
while the "Peer status" is "Active".

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks

Troubleshooting / Re: HTTPS can never be optimized?
« on: January 23, 2018, 10:48:49 AM »

I realized that some traffic is bypassed due to 2 default policies ("Interactive" & "Encrypted")
so, as a result. The HTTPs are bypassed by default !

if I remove the 443 number from "Encrypted" in Wanos Terminal , will it be optimized without a problem?

thanks

thanks again
The problem was solved, the SMB  traffic is well optimized.

But in the next test, I have a similar problem with HTTP, FTP, HTTPS protocols.
All these traffic was bypassed (Pass-through).

Should I make new traffic policies? :-\

(HTTP traffic result attached)

Hello Sazgar,

Have a look at http://wanos.co/docs/docs/wanos-admin-guide/configuration/optimization-setting/ more specifically "Peer Timeout". Depending on your network traffic, you may adjust the timeout to be either longer or shorter. Let us know if that helped.

Thanks
I changed from 60 to 180 in both sides, but apparently the problem did not resolve.

If after a config change, and depending on which config change, that would be the normal expected behavior. By default Wanos does not reset TCP sessions when making a config change. This can be enabled by enabling the TCP-X Accelerator.

SMB/CIFS sessions are cached and remain open for a long time, avoiding a TCP handshake. Due to this after a config change on Wanos, the CIFS/SMB TCP session needs to be reset either by Wanos with TCP-X or on the PC/Server.

Hi ahenning
thanks for your explain.
But between file transfers, I did not make any changes to the configuration (Nothing )

I transferred a 10MB file for first time, and traffic up to 90% optimized

After about 8 minutes, I transferred the same file again, but the optimization was 0% and all traffic was bypassed (Pass-through)
and for third time, After about 5 minutes, I transferred the same file again, and no optimization is done and all the traffic was bypassed

(During the transfer of the second and third filesو I checked the "Peer Timeout" and was "Idel")

:(

Troubleshooting / HTTPS can never be optimized?
« on: January 22, 2018, 12:32:43 PM »
Hi

HTTPS can never be optimized? or any solution exists to optimize this type of traffic ?
(for example; remove the default Traffic Policies)

Thanks

Troubleshooting / Some time SMB not Optimized !

Hi

I am testing this product (wanos  4.2.1 64bit plus 20/200)
And I realized when transferring files using SMB protocol (File Sharing On Windows)
In some cases, no optimization is done and all the traffic was bypassed (Pass-through)
and some cases all the traffic was optimized

is it normal ? or some thing wrong here ?

Thanks
