: Built-in VPN in WANOS
: whoppi February 20, 2015, 01:32:29 PM
Hi,

Would it be possible to use a built-in VPN in WANOS between the WANOS devices?
My idea is to speed up the internet of a remote site. The VPN does not need to be encrypted since it will only carry internet traffic in my case.

RemoteSite--Router--WANOS--1Mbit/s internet connection--WANOS--Router--HeadQuarter with 100Mbits/s internet speed.

Hi Whoppi,

Yes, this is possible. I would recommend to test the solution with an external VPN. If you are satisfied with the solution, please upgrade to plus and we will enable the VPN. Only 2x 1 Mbps is required in this scenario.

What kind of VPN is it? Does it mean that wan interface of wanos runs in routed mode?

It's quite unclear how L2 bridge appliance can do VPN.

It is simply a UDP Tunnel between peers

is it a l2 tunnel? do you bridge  a lan  interface with it?

Not a L2 tunnel, just a UDP Tunnel between the peers. Initially, optimized traffic destined to the remote site subnets can be tunneled.
